I've seen this programme before and mostly find it more interesting than funny. The best bits here are the one in the picture, where the police force has been privatised, and the fourth- and fifth-wall-breaking critique of one sketch and then a critique of the critics. Note that this predates Jeeves and Wooster, but not F & L's appearances separately and together on Black Adder. And, yes, I believe that the "use of the word gay" sketch predates Fry coming out.
Roger Ordish directed all of this series and the second. As far as I know, F & L wrote all the episodes.
