B-
In this episode written by Zbyszewski, Brett tries to save his girlfriend Rita's life by running (OK, driving) away with her, but there are too many complications. Diggs and Bloodgood have a good, believable chemistry, and I like that her job as nurse affects the plot, even if it's hard to watch her remove a bullet from his shoulder in a motel room. It turns out that some of his injuries carry over to the "next day," so she wakes up to find him lying in a pool of blood. Meanwhile, we start to understand the dilemma his partner Andrea is in. I like how balanced the cast is by not only gender but ethnicity, which the modern Los Angeles setting helps with.
Peyton List makes her first of three appearances as Ava.
