In this episode written by Jenny Lynn, Brett does try to walk away, taking Rita to Vegas and then, for a couple weeks, to a Mexican beach. But when he admits he's tiring of the vacation, something shifts. For the next few mornings, Rita feels alienated from him, and Brett feels increasingly discouraged. Note that there is more profanity than usual, but I don't know if that has anything to do with this airing on ABC.com rather than the traditional network.
