This tale of murder and family secrets in Yorkshire, one of six episodes written by Elizabeth-Anne Wheal, might've gotten a B-, especially with Dalziel in a kilt, if it weren't for the cheesy Barguest killer-dog thing. Also, we find out that Pascoe has a girlfriend but there's no follow-up. James Puddephatt makes one of his eleven appearances as Dr. James and/or Paul Ashurst, and he'd return in the following episode. This is one of sixty-one episodes directed by Colin Buchanan.
