I kind of liked this, from the campiness of the sidekick being introduced by the narrator as "Dick West, the All-American Boy" (played by Dickie Jones) to the complicated sense of justice of the nameless protagonist (played by Jock Mahoney).  The direction, by William Berke, was comparatively smooth, although I don't get why when characters are punched in Westerns they sometimes fall back like dancers.  Anyway, this episode has R.R. taking the side of an ex-con turned sort of good guy.

Kenneth MacDonald is Dan Harris in his seventh and last role on the show, while House Peters, Jr.'s sixth of seven roles is Bill Martin.  Art Dillard makes his tenth and final uncredited appearance, as a Holdup Man, while Fred Krone is a Henchman, as he was in most of his fifteen cameos.  Gregg Barton and Terry Frost usually played Henchmen, too, here as Henchman Al and Henchman Joe respectively.  Ewing Mitchell is a Sheriff, as he was in most of his eleven appearances.  Harry Lauter's ninth of eleven roles is Crowder.  Stanley Andrews had sixteen other roles on the show beside Pop Simpson.  Margaret Field made three other appearances besides his niece Carol.  Bob Woodward, not that Bob Woodward, is Buck the First Driver, one of twenty-five roles.
