I watched the entire feature-length episode and had mixed feelings throughout. I like the concept (based of course on the Alexander McCall Smith series, here adapted by Richard Curtis and director Anthony Minghella), and some of the lighter moments, like the sign-painting for the agency. However, the tone is sometimes far too menacing, and the timeline is screwy, especially the thread about the cheating husband. Also, maybe this is explained better in the books, but why does the protagonist

Also, maybe this is explained better in the books, but why does the protagonist
- Fake a break-in
- Look the other way at insurance fraud
- And let the cheating husband take selfies of them kissing when she already has enough evidence that he's a cheater?
Furthermore, if you're going to have stereotypes like a prudish secretary and a flamingly gay hairdresser, can they at least be funnier than this? All that said, I liked the show enough to wish I could like it more.
