In this ninth episode, 29-year-old Fred Gwynne (who Hiken would later cast in Car 54) plays Cpl. Ed Honnegan, AKA "The Stomach" because he won eating contests a decade before. It turns out he ate so much at the time because he was miserable after getting a "Dear John letter." So Bilko sets out to make him miserable in order to win an upcoming eating contest. I might've gone with a B- but I had to suspend disbelief too much, including that Honnegan is still pining for the girl after so much time, and he doesn't even get suspicious when he's serenaded with "their song"!
Murray Hamilton would return once as MSgt. Allan. Bern Hoffman would play Staff Sgt. Hog Henderson once more, as well as Little Louie once. The actress playing Hazel, Janet Waldo, who had many roles from the '30s to the '90s, may be best known for her cartoon voices like Penelope Pitstop and Judy Jetson.
