The 50th anniversary collection definitely is dominated by the first season, with ten out of eighteen episodes, but if this ninth episode of the second season is representative of the sophomore year, perhaps that's just as well. While it's nice to see Joe E. Ross before Hiken cast him in Car 54, here playing MSgt. Rupert Ritzik for the first of 54 times, ironically where his character is supposed to be leaving the Army, I ended up being more annoyed than amused by Bilko's unsuccessful attempts to lose bets as a way to give Ritzik money.
Harry Gresham is the Peoria City Hall Clerk here but would have three other roles later. Beatrice Pons makes her first of fourteen appearances as Mrs. Emma Ritzik.
