The Spanish flu comes to Downton and a few cliches break out, like Ethel being asked to give her baby up to his rich grandparents, and the earl trying to pay off the chauffeur to forget Sybil. The earl gives his blessing after Lavinia dies, and after the earl decides not to have an affair (just a bunch of snogging) with new but soon departing maid Jane. Bates and Anna finally wed, a day or so before he's arrested, but Matthew feels too guilty to pursue Mary, since Lavinia heard them kissing and dancing and talking. Oh, and Thomas is scheming as a footman again.
Teresa Mahoney is an uncredited Villager on this and the following episode.
