This show caused me to wonder Why are people on 21st-century TV shows so hostile? (OK, it's technically 20th century, but still.) This seems to be something across various genres and, yes, there are exceptions, but it's wearying to watch. Here we have a post-Cheers Ted Danson as a doctor named Jake, and most of his friends are either equally misanthropic or annoying in other ways. The plot, about Jake's failed attempts at a quiet time at the movies, is fine. I just don't care about any of these people. And, yes, I almost went with a D+ when a blind man was almost run over and it was played for laughs. John DiMaggio, who we last heard from on Adventure Time, here plays Mr. Thalasinos. Andy Ackerman directed.
