Lydia isn't in this episode much, but Matty's brother Jack does beat up Lord Hugh for harassing Lydia. Most of the focus is on Hannah, who ends up switching the absent Hutchinsons' now dead baby with her own healthy child. Poor Matty finds herself disillusioned with not only Hannah but also Ned (the boxer/footman/murderer) when the police come looking for him, moments after their first kiss. This show is really quite the soap opera, but so well done that just makes it more enjoyable. And, yes, Capt. Mason and Mrs. St. John finally consummate, but she's very jealous of his flirtation with Isabel.
This is the first of two episodes with Rupert Vansittart as Lord Percy Wilton and the first of two with Stephen Tindall as the Detective.
