This Armus, Foster, Horowitz, and Kitsis story just doesn't work, although there are good moments. Helena goes under cover with a gang, partly to trap them and partly to better understand the lawless part of her mother's life. She and Jesse find that teamwork is a challenge, since he's by the book and she isn't. Meanwhile what feels like two minutes max is spent on Barbara and Wade deciding to take it slow and then having sex and then her wanting to back off when he says he wants to "take care of her" (in the caregiving sense, not sexually, which presumably he just did). Oh, and Dinah is sort of mourning the mother she never knew.
This time the director just doing one episode is Jim Charleston, and he puts in some annoyingly 21st-century touches, especially with the Animal Gang's robberies.
