This well-meaning story by Thomas Thompson, who wrote seventeen other Bonanza stories, here with a co-writer who has no other credits, attempts to address how a corrupt politician uses racism, but the character motivation of the Ridley family is too muddled. Note that the main form of prejudice is against the Chinese (including Hop Sing's cousin), but slut-shaming is also implied against the murder victim, who's killed by her own father. I still like this series more than Bat Masterson and Jim Bowie, but that's not saying much.
Lewis Allen directed 41 other Bonanza episodes.
