Confusingly, this is on a set labeled Season Five, but IMDB has it as Series Six. Oh well, it's still a good episode, incorporating Lewis Carroll's "The Hunting of the Snark," as the pilot worked in (and twisted) Hamlet. It is odd that they seem to be setting up a romance for Hathaway and then the character apparently doesn't come back.
Martin Mayger's first of three uncredited roles is as a Gardener. Rachel Bennette wrote the screenplay, her only one for Inspector L. Brian Kelly directed and not only would two more episodes but had recently done four for Downton Abbey.
