On the verge of middle age, the "kids" in this installment are dealing with marital strife and their parents' deaths, although Neil's life remains the saddest.  (At least he's now living in council housing and writing for local panto productions.)  I'm starting to wonder if Bruce might be gay, not because he's single but because he speaks of finding "the right person," even when Apted asks what he looks for in a woman.  I believe that this is an episode I watched, probably on cable a year or two later, since I vaguely remember Jackie having a child out of wedlock, and her family's acceptance.  John is back, with more self-awareness, but Charles is still absent and now so is Symon, with no explanation in his case.
