This is the weakest episode yet, although I don't entirely blame new writer Chris Bucknall and definitely not Miranda Raison, as Jack's new partner DI Georgina Dixon. The new director, Ian Fitzgibbon, probably bears more responsibility, as the tone of the episode is off, as with the sequence of a grieving fiancee blowing her nose that goes on far too long. Furthermore, either the guest stars are miscast, or Fitzgibbon doesn't know how to get them to play the emotions they're supposed to play, whether lust or anger or surprise. This isn't terrible, but I am disappointed that a programme with so much potential quickly, as Jack would put it, pissed that away.
Note that if Richard Lumsden, who plays Jeff, looks vaguely familiar, it may be because he was Robert Ferrars in Emma Thompson's Sense & Sensibility (1995)
