We find out that the man that Trish had sex with the morning of the day of Kath's birthday party where Trish would be raped was Kath's husband Jim, but both insist that their morning encounter was consensual. With Beth, Ellie, and Alec, she revisits the (rented for the night) manor where the party was held, and it's a contrast to see her happy and outgoing in the flashbacks, with the shattered post-rape character we've seen so far. Chloe befriends Daisy but I'm not sure where that's heading or if it's just a side plot. Mark finds out where Joe is and wants to go see him, although vicar Paul disapproves and Beth would, too, if she knew. Another continuity glitch for the programme: Trish's attack occurred in May, and yet one of the threatening text messages is dated January of 2016.
Party Guest Steve Walsh previously was Townsfolk, which I guess hypothetically could be the same character, but I doubt Party Guest David Rowlands was the same character when he was Court Security. Kelly Gough would be back a couple times as Laura Benson, while Simone Ashley would return once as Dana. Jim Howick plays Aaron Mayford, who is a convicted rapist and may've attacked DC Katie Harford (daughter of Ed Burnett). Hara Yannas plays Aaron's wife Jenna. Daniel Nettheim directed this and the following episode.
