There's definitely a timeline error here, as Beth received a letter saying that she has to testify in mid-May, and yet it's three months since her mum died in January, and ten months since Danny died, but her waters break in what must be at least the eleventh month of pregnancy. Nonetheless, it's a very good episode, as things like Ellie "kicking the daylights" out of her husband when she first heard of his guilt are seen in a new light. Other secrets are revealed in court and the vicar doesn't look too happy to hear that his girlfriend had an affair with Mark.
Note that I think there's a chess reference in that the defence is a black woman named Bishop, while the prosecution is a white woman named Knight. Interestingly, the judge is also a woman, Sonia Sharma, played by Meera Syal, and, yes, they all wear barristers' wigs.
