Despite another timeline glitch (Tom is somehow 17, older than Chloe!), this is another riveting episode. Not only does Beth give birth to a little girl, with Ellie trying to help, despite Beth's anger at her, but the defence really goes after Ellie, claiming that she and Alec were having an affair and so framed Joe! Now, I freely admit to being an Alec/Ellie shipper, but only in the sense that I want them to get together at the end, when she's had a chance to heal over Joe. On Claire's advice, Ellie has a drunken one-night stand with a stranger (I don't think the actor has any lines), but Ellie knows it's a mistake.
Nakay Kpaka makes his first of two appearances as Jonah Knight, as we learn some of the backstories of the two opposing barristers. Jasper and Milo Jenkins play Lizzie Latimer, yes, a girl baby. Jessica Hobbs directed this and the following episode.
