I found the humour in this sharper, notably the complaining parent and the library patron (both played by Hugh, but in one baffling Stephen and in the other being baffled).  It looks like the pilot was a holiday special, and the series proper begins here.  Deborah Norton, who plays Mrs. Pert, would take on various roles throughout the rest of the first series, but it really is a small cast overall.
