I feel like there's more substance, less filler, in this episode written by Aaron Allen, who'd do four more. Much of it involves Jughead, from his tentative romance with an understandably distracted Betty-- she's trying to help her sister, even if it means trusting the Blossoms-- to his semi-homeless situation because of his alcoholic and otherwise troubled father. Juggy even is called in for questioning in Jason's murder. Meanwhile, Veronica is well matched with her mother, as they recognize each other's gamesmanship. Archie's romantic life takes a backseat for once, no pun intended, and I think that's a good thing. He's got to work on his friendships, including with Jughead, right now.
Allison Anders would direct one more episode.
