One thread is about Jessica's ex-husband, Quentin Sainz, and his new wife, Lisa Parker (Russell Hornsby and Sharon Leal, who'd both return once). The other is about Mike's first case, which he almost loses, until he gets some help from Rachel, who reluctantly poses as his wife but rejects him when he asks her out. I'm not sure that either thread in Jon Cowan's script (his first of six) quite works, but they're both interesting enough. I also like that episodes have callbacks to earlier episodes already, giving some continuity to the series.
Ben Lewis makes his first of three appearances as Seth Keller, Donald Burda his first of two as Judge Renee Aubuchon. Dennie Gordon didn't direct any other Suits episodes, but she had directed one of the Dawson's Creek episodes I reviewed.
