Not only is May still dealing with the Brazendales, but Ruby temporarily falls for the propaganda of upper-class radicals who are not just pro-birth-control but eugenicists.  And May tries to give herself an herbal abortion but fails.

This episode introduces Ebe Sievwright as the butcher Joseph Hartman, who seems quite smitten with Ruby, despite her vegetarianism; he'd be back for the last two episodes, so I'm guessing this will actually be a (for this series) long-lasting romance.  This time, IMDB credits Kate Gartside as the writer
