The title refers to not only a white horse that Billy finds and wants to have in the local marching band, but the rescue of May by her employer when she falls victim to his photographer friend. (I don't think she's raped, just shot with a hypodermic needle, stripped, and filmed, which is still pretty bad.) I didn't care for either plot line, and the best thing here is Iris working through her grief and shock over her wedding night, with the help of her friend the young priest.
John Axon makes his first appearance of three as Abie Lee.
