Co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino returns to the writer's desk for this episode where Korra is literally and figuratively caught in the middle when her uncle, and his northern troops, take the town over in order to "purify" it and bring the southern tribe back to its supposedly lost spirituality. It's not until the end of the episode that Korra realizes her uncle has gone too far, and then he arrests her parents! Meanwhile, Tenzin and his siblings go looking for his middle child, whose older sister and younger brother have been making fun of her, and he, his brother, and his sister hash out some of their own childhood issues.
Keone Young would voice a Northern Soldier on the following episode as well, while Nolan North would be a Rebel Leader twice more. More significantly, Stephanie Sheh voices Zhu Li the first of eleven times.
