I'm not sure how well the Arrow crossover character of Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards in her first of eight cameos on this brother show) works here. Rickards's acting style is a bit jarring compared to the usual feel of The Flash, although maybe that's the point. And we keep hearing how perfect she and Barry are for each other, but alas, they both have unrequited loves, hers the Arrow himself. As for the villain Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller in his first of thirteen appearances), whom Cisco names Captain Cold, he's neither the most nor the least interesting we've seen so far, and I will note that the villains on Birds of Prey were generally better. Also, no one really cares about Iris/Eddie, do they?
Still, I was happy to see Cisco have so much to do, and not just naming. He gets comical moments (including an indescribable facial reaction when he meets Felicity) and serious moments, like dealing with Dr. Wells's anger, twice. Oh, and he gets to be both bad-ass and comical when he scares off Capt. C with a vacuum cleaner decorated with LED lights. Unrelated to Cisco, I like trivia nights, even the truncated one shown here, so that was nice.
Ron Wear returns as an uncredited Police Officer, while IMDB confusingly has John Specogna again listed as Businessman/Xmas Shopper/businessman runner. Museum Guard Reese Alexander would later be a Prison Guard. Dominic Purcell does only the voice of Mick Rory here, but it looks like he's actually seen in future episodes. Lucas Wolf is Thug #3 but would later have a recurring if uncredited role as Man in the Iron Mask.
Kai Wu, Geoff Johns's co-writer here, would contribute seven more scripts. Glen Winter, who also directed for Arrow, would do four more for The Flash.
