In this Steven Pritzker story (his first of eight), Mary helps out Lou's acquaintance, Frank Carelli (the once ubiquitous John Schuck). It's another episode that doesn't really work, although they certainly try. I did like Lou educating Mary in what makes a news story interesting to viewers. Note that Phyllis is against capital punishment.
Timothy Brown of the Eagles (football, not music) plays himself and a couple years later would be "Spearchucker" Jones on a handful of M*A*S*H episodes. Ted is absent, despite a few newsroom scenes.
