In this Bruno Heller story, Jane "closes the case," even though for most of the episode he's imprisoned, for the surveillance device he placed in Bosco's office a few episodes ago. Once you sit through all the stuff about hicks in Sutter County and wacky, misunderstood inmates, you find out that Bosco and Lisbon have a Big Secret from eight years ago.
JoNell Kennedy would be back three times as Coroner Pat. Inmate Jose David Acevedo would later play Security Guard Rivera. It's the only Mentalist episode Rod Hardy directed, and a step up from his work on Buffalo Girls, which got a D.
