Things that saved this from a C+ or B-:
- The scenes at the countess's manor
- The Sven & Louisa romance finally moving along
- The "friendly testimony" at Leslie's trial
- The bat funeral and Larry's comments
- More gorgeous scenery than we've seen in the last couple episodes
Leslie gets in over his head with the crooks he met in jail. I'm not sure why there's so much about befriending criminals on this programme.
Jamie Ward plays Margo's new crush, the countess's gardener Angel. Roger Goldby would direct six more episodes. This is the 100th British show I've reviewed for this project, most of them from ITV. This is almost one-third of all the shows on this blog, which is because, one, my library carries a load of British programmes, and two, they are more likely than American shows to be something I'll stick with for more than an episode.
