The family grieves for Sybil, with Tom wanting to name the baby after her and have little Sybil baptised as a Catholic. Robert doesn't do well with this or any of the many other ways that people defy him, i.e. express their own opinions. Cora blames Robert for listening to the posh doctor, until the dowager pressures Dr. Clarkson to say that Sybil wouldn't have survived anyway. And meanwhile, the possible romantic entanglements of some of the younger servants get even more tangled. (Mrs. Patmore frankly says, "You're all in love with the wrong people.") Oh, and Bates gets out of prison, but I confess to not finding that thread as interesting as most other people seem to, on and in front of the screen.
Prisoner Martyn Mayger would be a Bidder in the last season. Note that this is the 100th show I've reviewed from the 2010s, but I think this mostly reflects that my library tends to carry newer shows.
