This episode is a step up, helped by the introduction of Mrs. Elton (Christina Cole, who incidentally was Miss Bingley in Lost in Austen).  Cole is well-cast, while still giving her "Augusta" a different spin than the other actresses I've seen in the role.  Also, the Crown Inn dance scene is well done, and I do buy the chemistry between Miller and Garai, even if they aren't Austen's Knightley and Emma.  There's still some cognitive dissonance, like Emma ranting about Mrs. Elton to herself but audibly in the middle of town, but I'm hoping that the final episode, including the heavily foreshadowed Box Hill expedition, can at least maintain this level.
