For Gen-Xers in particular, this was a holiday perennial, so watching it today (for this time in probably decades), I was crossing off items on the mental list-- bopping twins in purple, metal trees, Linus's "meaning of Christmas" speech, etc.-- but I have to admit I didn't get choked up. It's cute but slow-moving. And, yes, very quaint in a '60s way, from the fear of commercialization of Christmas to the mild satire of psychiatry. Bill Melendez directed this and many other Peanuts features.
