In this Marcus & Shoenman story, the family tricks Cliff into thinking they're making a special dinner for his 48th birthday, when in fact he's going to go see Lena Horne, whom he has a big crush on. And, yes, that's Mod Squad's Clarence Williams III in the small role of Mr. Thornehill.
The first season of The Cosby Show ranges from C to B- and definitely averages to a C+. Yes, I probably would've rated it higher at the time but it was never a favorite of mine, just something I watched. Still, I'll go on to Season Three (my library doesn't have Season Two), after a short detour....
