Milestone #2
Almost two months later and I've finally reviewed my second hundred shows. Here are the increases by decade from the first hundred: The 1950s only went from 9 to 10, but the 1960s quadrupled, from 2 to 8. And the '70s similarly went from 2 to 9. The '80s added almost as impressively, from 5 to 22. The '90s went from 25 to 44, while the '00s more than doubled, 18 to 41. The '10s remain supreme (even without the decade being over, let alone all released to DVD), going from 39 to 66.
Before, Adventure Time put the Cartoon Network ahead of the pack, and they still have 30, but now the many British shows place ITV (29) and BBC (23) near the top. NBC is doing the best of the once Big Three, with 26 shows. Poor ABC still hasn't cracked the double digits.
The lowest grades are unchanged: one F, still no F+, and one D-. However, there are now 5 Ds instead of 2, and 6 D+s instead of 2. C-s have gone from 12 to 26, Cs from 11 to 25, and C+s from 27 to 46. The B-s increased less dramatically, from 30 to 42, while the 12 Bs almost tripled, to 33. The 2 B+s are now 14, thanks in large part to Broadchurch, which also earned the first two A-s.
At this point in the project, I do feel like I'm sifting through some crap to find gems, or at least tolerable programs. I'm probably quicker to give up on a show in less than half an hour than I was at the beginning. Still, there has been some good stuff and I am curious enough to keep going.
