It's about football in a small Texas town, so obviously I'm not the audience for this, but the way race is handled is weird, too, or at least it was in the first quarter hour.  It's based on a nonfiction book and then movie.  This episode kicked off the fourth season, but I doubt I would've enjoyed it more early on.  Peter Berg directed.
