Grantchester: Episode 3.1
Grantchester: Episode 3.1
ITV
23 April 2017
Historical Drama, Crime Drama
DVD
B
The episode opens with the two main couples at a rock & roll club. (It's now 1955 but it feels a bit early for this, especially in England.) However, both couples face problems. With Sidney & Amanda, it's not just the continuing Situation, complicated by her estranged husband wanting to see the baby, but also death threats that Sidney and other people are receiving, in the form of dead crows. As for Geordie & Cathy, they're fighting so much that their oldest daughter "runs away" to the vicarage, and we find out in the last scene that he's having an ongoing affair with one of the secretaries at the police station. Meanwhile, poor Leonard is being pressured to turn straight. Oh, and there's also a murder mystery, again overshadowed by the soap opera.
Emily Bevan makes her first of four appearances as Hilary Franklin, Gary Beadle his first of four as Archdeacon Gabriel Atubo.
