In this story written by Jess Williams (his only one so far for Grantchester), it turns out that Sidney isn't just running away from his problems, although the theme of running off continues. He's trying to find out the truth about Ronnie, who turns out to have a whole other family with a 50ish Gypsy woman. (She's a grandmother of a 17-year-old, but she does have two daughters by Ronnie.) Mrs. Maguire confronts the other Mrs. Maguire after Ronnie's death and they make peace with each other. Also, she can now move on and marry her suitor (I think named Jack). Sidney's problems can't be resolved just yet, especially when Amanda wants him to choose between her and the church. Since I think he was better off with Hildegard, I'd choose the church, and I say that as a casual Pagan. Still, presumably he comes to some sort of resolution next episode, unless they just leave us hanging.
Rob Evans also directed the next episode.
