I don't know if it that it was hard to get my bearings after missing all the twists and turns of Series Two, but this didn't feel quite as good as Series One.  It's Christmas 1954 and Amanda is very pregnant and has left her husband but I think not yet filed for divorce.  She and Sidney have declared their love but don't know what to do about "The Situation."  Amanda of course gives birth, although on the 23rd rather than the 25th.  And of course there's a mystery, although it gets pushed to the background by the soapiness.  I'm sort of counting this as Series Three, in that it's packaged that way, but we'll see what I think of the third series proper, and improper.

Michael Southgate played an uncredited Newspaper Seller thrice in Series Two and here he is an uncredited Wedding Guest.  Passerby Nick Davison would be a Hospital Visitor.  Lorne MacFayden had become a regular in Series Two as Phil Wilkinson, while Seline Hizli had then become a regular as Margaret Ward.  Edward Bennett had directed two Series Two episodes as well as this one.

It's not all joy and light of course but the ending is pretty happy.
